FAQ

Quick answers for CookClip

Help with adding recipes, organizing your library, cooking ideas, grocery lists, meal planning, Smart Import, sync, and plans.

Adding Recipes

How do I add a recipe?

Open the Add tab, choose a link, pasted text, or photo, then review the draft before saving it to your library.

What kinds of recipes can I save in CookClip?

Save recipes from TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, websites, photos, screenshots, handwritten recipes, or your own notes. CookClip turns them into clean, organized recipes you can review, edit, and save.

Why is something missing after import?

Some pages and videos leave out ingredients, timing, or servings. Check the draft, add anything missing, and save when it looks right.

Why do I see a cookie, privacy, or sign-in page?

Some websites put banners or sign-in prompts in front of the recipe. In the import browser, close anything covering the recipe if you can, then tap Import Recipe.

Organizing

What are collections?

Collections are groups of recipes you choose, like weeknight dinners, baking ideas, or family favorites. If you used folders before, they now appear as collections.

Where do I manage collections?

Home shows collections near the top. Open one to add recipes, rename it, change its icon, or delete it.

How do tags work?

Tags help you filter your library across collections. You can create, rename, and delete custom tags from Settings.

Can I edit a saved recipe?

Yes. Open the recipe, tap the menu button, then choose Edit.

Cooking Ideas

How do I use What can I cook today?

Open What can I cook today from Home, add ingredients you have, then search. CookClip first looks for saved recipes that match your ingredients. Signed-in Pro users can also generate recipe ideas and explore online results when those options are available.

Do recipe preferences affect saved recipe matches?

No. Cuisine, dietary, time, skill, and note preferences are used for AI-generated recipe ideas only. Saved recipe matches are ranked by ingredient coverage, and online discovery uses your selected ingredients.

Grocery & Meal Planning

How do grocery Recipe and Category views work?

Recipe view groups items by the recipe they came from. Category view groups active items into shopping sections. Switching views only changes how the list is shown.

What does AI grocery organization do?

In Category view, CookClip can use AI to tidy active grocery items into better shopping groups when you are signed in and the service is available.

What happens if AI grocery organization is unavailable?

CookClip keeps using standard on-device categories, so your grocery list still works while you are signed out, offline, or the AI service is unavailable.

Can CookClip help me plan meals?

Yes. Pro includes meal planning, so you can place saved recipes onto your week and keep cooking plans organized.

Smart Import

How does Smart Import work?

Smart Import uses AI to read the recipe text, link, or photo you provide and turns it into a draft with ingredients, steps, timing, and servings when available.

Can I fix a Smart Import draft?

Yes. Edit ingredients, steps, timing, servings, or notes before saving. The draft is yours to adjust.

Does Smart Import always work?

Not always. Some websites block reading, and some videos do not include enough recipe details. You can still enter the recipe manually.

You can add and save recipes on this device while signed out. Sign in with Apple or Google to back up your library, sync across devices, and manage purchases.
